MEET & GREET

Best practice to follow: the ‘Funding Talks’

Our Funding Team recently  started an interesting initiative, called  ‘Funding Talks’. We are glad to share it with you  as best practice to follow and why not to implement it in your team as well.

Organized on regular basis, in a cozy and informal environment, the ’Talks’ are meetings between staff of the department and a visiting guest speaker. The  speakers, either internal or external, are presenting business related topics or anything that might be of interest to the team.

The initiative is opened for friends and family as well – hosts usually invite colleagues from other departments to benefit the event and thus contribute to the team spirit and cross-departmental relations.

The last two ’Talks’ enjoyed really high interest as visiting guest speakers have been our colleagues Olga Gulkova with the “Ideas Management” project and Andreas Down with the “GoTo Architecture” project, both followed by lively  Q&A sessions.

The ’Talks’ were attended as well by friends from HR, Marketing and Audit departments and real time broadcasted to some colleagues in Romania.

Connect to Future: hot news from Vegas

Have you heard that Vegas hosted the annual global customer event where the world’s leading brands transformed the way digital business gets done? Hear what our IT guru who leads the Digital Transformtion of the Bank, Andreas Down, has to share with us right from the spot.

“2500 attendees met from all over the world, top managers, IT leaders, high level engineers, cross industry and huge banking/financial related attendees. What became clear, is that in the next 5 years we will see more changes and disruption than in the last 30. AI and deep machine learning will change again user experience and process design, and will also be used for all kind of identification and fraud protection processes. BUT AI will also be used from the cybercrime bad guys - new technology will be used from the dark web as well.” said Andreas. “Go to cloud is now not an option for all of us, it is mandatory. Security measures are still the same, they just morphed into the cloud architecture specific areas. A best practice to follow is adding an additional security shield and layer in front of a two cloud provider strategy.”

Andreas was a mentor of banking and finance related round table discussions and talked about API security. One of the most interesting round table discussion was "BANK to CLOUD" where 20 members from different banks shared their thoughts and strategy how to move to cloud. TBI Bank will participate in the future in a monthly, virtual, round tablea to follow up and exchange experiences regarding the migration path from legacy to cloud.

“We are on the right track but we have to keep the pace, accelerate, pedal to the metal, for the next 15 to 20 months to come.” summoned up Andreas after considering all the takeaways from the conference.

Go scootering with TBI Bank

Our summer raffle for a scooter is over and we have a lucky winner who will pedal to the metal. To enter the raffle with 1 entry, our sales people had to have certain number of contracts for the period June-August. The more signed contracts they had, more entries they had and bigger was their chance to win. There was a true champion with 15 entries because of the huge number of signed contracts. Our clients also had the chance to participate in such a raffle if they had signed a contract in the mentioned period.

Our collegue Petya Georgieva from Tehnomarket –Veliko Tarnovo is the lucky winner. Pedal to the metal, Petya, not only with your new fancy scooter, but in sales as well.

Congratulations from all of us!

FOR YOU

From „I” to „We”

The Sound of Music by Adina Magdalinoiu, Retail sales manager, Romania. “Music expresses what cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” Victor Hugo. Music is a language everybody speaks. It is that language that helps us express and experience emotions. This was the main idea of the training that happened in Bucharest, in a beautiful Saturday of October.

The training had 2 parts: the first part was rather interesting for all of us because we enjoyed the music of some African drums. Moreover, we ourselves had to play - the drums for the boys and some other instruments for the girls. First, we played each at a time – terrible sound. When playing alone, we lost our power and determination. When other instruments joined, music started to sound better. The person who played alone revived and started to play better. His/her spirit raised. This happens with a team, too. When doing things alone, you don’t have that energy and you lose concentration and dedication. When you work in a team, the effect is sizeable. You can play better. The synergy between team members can produce creative and productive results.

“Music expresses what cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” Victor Hugo. Music is a language everybody speaks. It is that language that helps us express and experience emotions. This was the main idea of the training that happened in Bucharest, in a beautiful Saturday of October.

“My colleagues from TBI’s branches in Bucharest and I attended an interesting training called “From I to We”, organized by Benefice Solutions. It was a totally different training from the ones we used to participate to.” Adina said. The training had 2 parts: the first part was rather interesting for all of us because we enjoyed the music of some African drums. Moreover, we ourselves had to play - the drums for the boys and some other instruments for the girls. First, we played each at a time – terrible sound. The second part was a debate of a case study focusing on employees’ behaviour at work.

The course helped us to energize and stimulate positive thinking, to identify the issues that we face and to understand the fact that only on-going efforts generate positive outcomes and only coordinated actions could lead to reaching our objectives. At the end of analysing our case study, we discovered the importance of personal involvement for the successful carrying out of team objectives, namely to step out of the ”I” and immerse into the “We”. We recommend this experience to all TBI employees.

If you ask me what we enjoyed the most about this course, it was the playing of the drums which made us all be very implicated in the training course and eager to find out more.”

Bogdan Mandrea, a member of the team shared: “This is the funniest, interesting and special course I have ever attended.”

To change how you use money, Open Banking must break banks by Rowland Manthorpe

Is Open Banking too revolutionary for its own good? Banking is boring. For most people this might seem instinctively true – in the United Kingdom it is an objective statement of fact. Here, five big banks – Barclays, HSBC, Lloyds, Santander and Royal Bank of Scotland – control over 80 per cent of the current account market, offering opaque variations on near-identical products. People pick a bank more or less at random (parents bank there; they have a branch nearby; they gave me a free young person’s railcard), then, once they’ve chosen, stick with it for life. Now, this is about to change. Explore the change HERE
